MOVIE |
Going into this movie, I wasn't sure if I would like it or not, I mean I'm not
the biggest Kevin Costner fan, especially when he tries a romantic comedy, can anyone say
Bull Durham. But to my surprise I actually enjoyed this movie quite a lot, I must be
getting soft in my old age. Basically the story goes along like this. Roy (Kevin Costner)
is a down and out ex-golfer who runs a crappy driving range in some back
hole town in
Texas. Into his life comes an old university friend and now pro golfer (Don Johnson)
offering him a job, at first he accepts it, but after a bit of jerking around on a course
he is fired. During this whole escapade he meets the girlfriend of his old friend, Molly
(Rene Russo) and falls in love. Basically the story moves on and Roy gets his girl and he
enters the U.S. Open, something he thought was impossible. Will Roy win? It's a fun movie.
I won't spoil it for ya, your going to have to watch. Oh by the way, watch out for a great
performance from Cheech Marin as Roy's caddy.

VIDEO |
Tin Cup is framed at 2:35:1 and is 16x9 enhanced, and generally very clear.
While there is the occasional scene with some MPEG distortion and shimmering, it doesn't
detract from the overall presentation of the movie. So it gets a passing grade.
|
AUDIO |
The soundtrack is as usual Dolby Digital 5.1 surround and is crystal clear.
Speech is very crisp and clear, and music scrubs up good as well. Although at time the
music could go a bit over the top in some scenes. But overall, pretty good.

EXTRAS |
Not many extras on the disc. Production notes, scene selections and that's about
your lot. Again a disappointing aspect of the disc.
|
FINAL THOUGHTS |
Granted the disc doesn't have many extra's. But I would have no trouble in
recommending this movie, it's a fun watch and is of generally high quality for a nice
casual watch. If you want over the top demo quality discs, get Outbreak or Godzilla. |
