MOVIE |
What else is there to say about a
movie considered a classic. Blazing Saddles is one of those movies
that is always quoted and still retains it's comic flare even after
all these years.
The sleepy town of Rock Ridge is
being plotted against. A local politician, Hedley Lamaar is going to
secretly run a railroad through this town to make money. With crime
in the town the people of Rock Ridge ask for a Sheriff, Lamaar sends
a black man as there Sheriff hoping to cause more trouble, that is
until his plan backfires.
This is a classic movie if a little
politically incorrect movie today, but is more than worth the 90
minutes you'll spend watching it.

VIDEO |
Framed a 2:35:1, Blazing Saddles has a very
sharp transfer but that is where the positives about this transfer end.
This transfer is riddled with film and MPEG artifacts throughout. Shadow
detail also is very bad. It's a shame that this transfer is so woeful.

AUDIO |
Blazing Saddles has several different
languages encoded in a mono Dolby Digital 1.0 soundtrack. Being in mono
the soundtrack only comes from the center speaker but sounds clear and
easy to hear. There is also an audio commentary on the disc.

EXTRAS |
A couple of extras here.
Theatrical Trailer - A standard
trailer for the time of this movie's release. Framed at 1:85:1 with Dolby
Digital 2.0 mono track.
Audio Commentary - This is not a
screen specific commentary but it is a very good one at that. Mel Brooks
is very informative about the filmmaking process. Sadly the commentary
only runs about 50 minutes.
Production Notes - Standard
production notes, nothing really spectacular.

FINAL THOUGHTS |
A great movie spoilt by
a terrible DVD transfer. Best avoided unless you are a Blazing
Saddles fan. |
