Red Dawn is the story of a group of kids from a small Colorado town. One day while at school, the students notice paratroopers landing outside. Wondering what is going on one of the teachers goes outside to check and is executed.

Realizing what has happened, the students flee. Along the way, Jed (Patrick Swayze) manages to pickup his brother Matt (Charlie Sheen), Robert (C. Thomas Howell) and Daryl (Darren Dalton) and they flee to the mountains with all the supplies they can muster.

Time passes and the boys grow more eager to know what is going on in their once peaceful town so the boys make a trip back home. 

Realizing what is happening the boys decide to make a fight of it and they regroup back to the mountain to plan, bombings, ambushes and surprise attacks against the Russians. Soon the Wolverines are born.

This is a good solid movie with good performances from the main cast. Highly Recommended.

Shadow detail was acceptable on the whole except for a few scenes where it was very black.

Colors were well rendered and looked the part throughout. Flesh tones were done very well.

There were no MPEG artifacts noted on this transfer but film artifacts were rampant. The artifacts exist throughout the print and although they are not overly distracting as they are quite small, it is still a small hindrance.

Red Dawn is framed at 1:85:1 and is not 16:9 enhanced. But this is expected as it looks like a complete copy of the R1 release, even down to the packaging, bar a few differences that our R4 includes. Also the packaging says there is a full screen version, this was inherited from the R1 packaging and is not included on our version.

This is a single-sided, dual layer disc. The layer change occurs at 58:42.
