MOVIE |
Steven Seagal has never been one of my
favorite actors but this effort from Andrew "The Fugitive"
Davis is one of Seagal's more enjoyable movies.
The movie revolves around the U.S.S.
Missouri, one of America's biggest and soon to be decommissioned
Battleships.
On her way to her final destination
she is craftily hijacked by the executive officer (Gary Busey) and
an ex Navy Seal and "wet boy" played by Tommy Lee Jones.
Now of course there has to be a one
man army to resist this hijack and that man is Casey Ryback (Seagal)
who is the cook/ex Navy Seal.
Using his patented, Slap them like
a girl till they fall or I kill them moveÔ,
Rybeck moves through the ship in order
to stop the terrorists stealing nuclear Tomahawk missiles. With good
direction and performances, Under Siege is an enjoyable addition to
your collection.

VIDEO |
Under Siege has a
sharp transfer, Colors were acceptable if a little muted. Shadow
Detail was slightly lacking. There were some slight MPEG
artifacts in the first 30 minutes of the movie which did settle down
though. There were no film
artifacts noted.
Under Siege is framed at
1:85:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.
This is a single-sided, single
layer disc.
|
AUDIO |
Where the video
fails slightly the sound rushes though and scores a touchdown. Encoded
in Dolby 5.1, Under Siege is a very immersive soundtrack with
great surround integration and directional effects that never
overtook the soundstage. It really makes you feel like you in the
middle. Dialog
was always easy to hear.
