MOVIE |
Outbreak is one of my favorite action/trailer movies released in the past few
years, directed beautifully by Wolfgang Peterson (Air Force One, Das Boot, In The Line of
Fire) It tells the story of of a monkey from Africa that is infected with the Ebola virus,
after contact with the animal in the U.S. a man is infected with the virus, as moves his
way across the country, he is admitted to a hospital.
Anyway after several people are
infected with the virus, the thing rears it's ugly head in a small town. Because so many
people are infected the town is put into quarantine and thus, the story really begins,
will the town be destroyed?
Will a antidote be found in town, and just what it the
government conspiracy behind the whole thing? With great acting, great writing, excellent
sound and beautiful camerawork, this is one great DVD to have.

VIDEO |
The picture itself seems
quite scratchy and does have the occasional artifact that shows up from time to time, but
I think this is actually derived from the master itself, but it is still
watch able. I
believe that this is from the region 2 version as it has the same problems as well.
Outbreak is framed at 1:85:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.
This is a single-sided,
single-layer disc.

AUDIO |
WOW reference quality, the
sound format in the movie is Dolby Digital 5.1 and screams reference
quality. The sound stage is very immersive and is very aggressive. The
surrounds are used very frequently and the .1 channel is very impressive,
especially when explosions are happening. Makes a great demo disc for
sound!
|
EXTRAS |
Ho hum, what extras, production notes, cast biographies and scene selections,
pretty disappointing.
|
FINAL THOUGHTS |
Just get this disc, even though there isn't many extra's on the movie &
sound quality kick on this DVD, again like Mars Attacks!, just go and get the disc, top
stuff! |
