One True Thing is the story of Ellen Gulden an up & coming
writer for a New York newspaper.
On a trip home for the weekend she finds
out from her father George (William Hurt) that her mother Katherine (Meryl
Streep) has cancer. George asks his daughter if she will come home and
look after her mother, reluctantly she agrees.
Being closer to her father
than mother things at first seem a little strained between them both but
as the movie progresses they become closer and a closer bond builds
between them both as the mother gets more I'll. A sad weepie of a
movie that is very well done.
