Multiplicity
Columbia / 1996 / 113 Mins / Rated PG

MOVIE
I was quite dubious about this movie, I noticed that it was written by the same pair who wrote Father's Day and you know how I felt about that one. Well I was quite pleased with this one.

The story revolves around Doug Kinney (Michael Keaton) who is a construction supervisor and who never has enough time for his family. Then one day he is given a strange offer. Doe's he want to clone himself? At first Doug is hesitant but eventually he comes around and he clones himself. The second Doug is more tough and has less feelings. Sounds all fine. The clone works and Doug does his relaxation thing.

At first it all goes well, but then Doug needs another clone to look after the family, so along comes Doug 3 a sensitive new age guy type. By now the movie becomes a little formulaic but has enough little twists and fun parts too keep it going. Michael Keaton really does hold this movie together as you will see with Doug 4, it shows how funny he can be. Highly Recommended.

VIDEO

This is becoming the norm with Columbia/Tri-Star, a near perfect transfer. There doesn't seem to be any noticeable noise or major problems in the print. in fact I would go so far as to say this is a reference quality disc.

Multiplicity  is framed at 2:35:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.

This is a single-sided, single-layer disc.

AUDIO
A few sound formats on this disc, including DD5.1 English & French, plus English Dolby Surround 2.0. I listened to the English DD5.1 track and I would say it's uneventful.

There is not much use if any really of the surround channel and the .1 channel had a 2 hour nap. It is mainly mixed towards the front soundstage. A little disappointing.

EXTRAS
Nada, just the Dolby Digital Trailer and the Theatrical Trailer and that's your lot. But I forgive you again Columbia, because your discs are just so darn good.
FINAL THOUGHTS
What a fun little buy. Light-hearted disc, great picture, great acting. Well worth the money.
