Mars Attacks!
Warner Bros. / 1996 / 102 Mins / Rated M15+

MOVIE
You know, not many people liked this movie when it came out, but I consider it one of Tim Burton's best films and it certainly fits into his movie style.

The story is based on a series of trading cards released a few years ago now. Aliens from Mars have picked our planet out to live on and they want us out.

At first we believe that they were coming in peace, thanks to the advice Pierce Brosnan gives the President, who is played brilliantly by Jack Nicholson, he also plays the role of a Las Vegas slime as well!

The movie itself trundles along at fair pace and can get very strange and surreal and although some people will hate it, it is a very fun cartoonish romp and the special effects are outstanding.

Granted the movie didn't do too well at the cinema, it's the kind of movie that has gained a cult audience.

VIDEO

Mars Attacks! scrubs up pretty well. The film does have the occasional artifact show up, but generally the picture is good and shows of the cartoonish quality of the movie.

Mars Attacks  is framed at 2:35:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.

This is a single-sided, single-layer disc.

AUDIO
As usual the sound on this disc is encoded in Dolby Digital 5.1 and is a brilliant mix. The surround and subwoofer channels are used very frequently and really add to the quality of the disc. The other sound channel on the disc is Danny Elfman's music only soundtrack and shows off his talent for making a different type of sounding soundtrack with own distinctive style. Great Stuff. Almost reference stuff.
EXTRAS
There are a couple of interesting extra's included on this disc, but not much. Firstly there is some production notes, a Theatrical trailer, scene selections and some great animated menus, but other than that it's a pretty empty extra's box.
FINAL THOUGHTS
This one is a good disc, if your into this type of movie go and get it right now it's great and even if your not, think long and hard and then go and get it, because it's a worthy purchase, worth every cent.
