Madonna's Music DVD single is yet
another first for DVD in Australia albeit a somewhat less than stellar
release, not for it's quality but for it's lack of features.
This DVD features Madonna's new number
1 single Music in 2 versions. The standard music video running for 4:26
seconds as well as a slightly extended video version that runs for 4:44
seconds. The song is nothing special but it isn't the worst song I have
heard. It features some guy called Ali G, who is someone I have not
heard of myself.
Personally I believe that if a market
like this was worked on and refined with extra features, the extra 10
dollar you pay for a DVD single would be more worthwhile than a CD
single. Only time will tell I guess.

For a non 16:9
transfer this disc is very, very good. This transfer is super
sharp with wonderful color and shadow detail. There were no MPEG
artifacts or film artifacts, but this is more than expected seeing
that the video was only filmed mere months ago. Madonna's
Music is framed primarily in a 4:3 format although there are a few
scenes that are approx 2:35:1. This disc is not 16:9 enhanced.
This is a single sided, single layer disc.

A standard PCM Stereo
soundtrack is encoded on this disc. This soundtrack is very flat and is
based towards to front of the soundstage with no surround use at all, same
can be said for the .1 channel.
The music and dialog was
always very easy to hear.

| FINAL THOUGHTS |
|
Not a must buy except if you are Madonna
nut. It is also a little expensive for what you get, but I can see a
market for these type of discs in the future.
