MOVIE
Last Action Hero was a movie that was panned by the critics and shunned by movie audiences. It was released a few weeks before Jurassic Park and was considered a bomb. That said I found Last Action Hero to be a clever, witty and enjoyable romp ever since I first saw it at the theater all those years ago.

The story revolves around a young boy named Danny (Austin O' Brian) who is bored with school and loves movies and his favorite movie star is Arnold Schwarzenegger who stars in the Jack Slater movies. One day he gets the chance to see the newest Jack Slater movie thanks to his friend who works at an old theater.

At the viewing the old man gives him a magic ticket that actually throws him into the movie and the becomes the comedy sidekick! One problem the bad guy (played by Charles Dance), has stolen the ticket and is now going to finish off his enemies alter-ego in the real world Arnold himself!

Look for lots of cameos by famous people in person and voice wise. And some great one liners as well. If you love your movies you will love this one's jibes.

VIDEO
As usual another Columbia/Tri-Star movie, perfect. The transfer is sharp, colors perfect, shadow detail great, no MPEG artifacts, I really can't see anything wrong with this transfer at all.

Last Action Hero is framed at 2:35:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.

This is a single-sided, dual layer disc.

AUDIO

The movie is encoded in Dolby Digital 5.1 and is as aggressive as all hell. The surrounds receive constant attention as does the .1 channel. I had to drop my usual listening level down slightly for this movie.

The dialog was superbly clear throughout.

EXTRAS
An average smattering of extras on this disc. Firstly there is the theatrical trailer, and a good one at that too! Also there is a Big Guns music video and a production featurette as well. To top off this bunch there are filmographies of John Mctiernan and big Arnie.

There is a subtitle overload on this disc in the following languages: English, French, Greek, Italian, Spanish, German, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Hindi, Turkish, Arabic, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Icelandic, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese & Hebrew.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Funny movie and demo material sound. If you haven't seen this movie. Rent it first, If you have and liked it, run go, get it!
