Good Will Hunting
Miramax / 1997 / 121 Mins / Rated M15+

MOVIE
Winner of 2 Academy Awards for writing and supporting actor, Good Will Hunting is a strong movie with wonderful performances.

Will Hunting (Matt Damon) is a Janitor at M.I.T. who is on probation for every petty crime under the sun, he is also a genius. One day he works out a complex mathematical problem and  resident professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgard) tries to take him under his wing.

But Will is on a course for self destruction and he will not trust anyone. Gerald sends Will to his old school mate and shrink Sean Maguire (Robin Williams) to help him sort out his problems and confront his fears.

The movie also stars Minnie Driver as his girlfriend Skylar and Ben Afleck as his best friend Chuckie. The writing by Affleck and Damon is wonderful and deserves the acclaim it got at the time of it's release.

The case states that the movie goes for 155 mins. It does not, Good Will Hunting runs for 121 minutes. How on earth could they get the running time this long!

VIDEO
The transfer was quite sharp throughout and the colors were well rendered but there were some other problems with the transfer.

There were some MPEG artifacts present throughout & the original print also had quite a lot of grain throughout as well.

Good Will Hunting is framed at 1:85:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.

This is a Single Sided, Single Layer Disc.

AUDIO

Good Will Hunting is encoded in Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Surround. I listened to the 5.1 soundtrack. The surrounds were only used during the opening scenes but did not seem to be in use anywhere else. The .1 channel was not used.

The dialog was sadly hard to hear at times and was quite muffled.
