Father's Day
Warner Bros. / 1997 / 95 Mins / Rated M15+

MOVIE

Father's Day, what a dud vehicle for Billy Crystal & Robin Williams, the movie starts out with promise, but just ends up going nowhere, with a few funny scenes chucked in. Jack Lawrence (Billy Crystal) and Dale Putley (Robin Williams) have never met before and they are about to find out that each of them is the father of a missing boy. I'll backup a bit.

Each of them is separately approached by there former lover, played by Nastassia Kinski. She explains to each of them that he's there son and he has gone missing and will they find him. So after about 30 minutes of pissfarting around, the guys finally meet each other when they realize that there old missus has duped them. Anyway they both agree to search for junior, and when they finally do they lose him again! Oh chuck in a few bad guys and WB thinks there is a funny movie in it.

I have one question WB. Where is it? Will Billy Crystal & Robin Williams find the kid? Who Cares! Watch only if you are recovering from brain surgery. You might even giggle then. Maybe. Can I go to sleep now.

VIDEO
The overall picture though doesn't seem to be of very high quality for a movie made in 1997. There is a lot of badly rendered scenes in the movie and a few disturbing MPEG artifacts. Why did they bother.

Fathers' Day is Framed at 2:35:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.

This is a single sided, single layer disc.

AUDIO
Father's Day is mixed in DD5.1 and is the only soundtrack on the disc. Speech was clear throughout and easy to listen to, even in high ambient noise areas. The surrounds were only really used for music and the .1 channel didn't really peep.
EXTRAS
What extra's? Some production and cast notes. That's it! Why WB Why?

Subtitles include: English, Arabic, Closed Captions.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Only get if your a fan of Billy Crystal & Robin Williams, the disc itself is very shallow and doesn't include enough features, poor video and a mediocre soundstage make this one avoidable.
