MOVIE |
When I first heard about this movie, the premise sounded great. A man wakes up
with no memory and is wanted for a series of murders.
Now I missed this one at the movies
and I must say, I'm a little disappointed and glad I did miss it now, because this movie is very strange, but
I should have realized as this was directed by Alex Proyas of The Crow fame.
The man without a memory is John Murdock
(Rufus Sewell), he escapes from his hotel room and now must unravel the mystery behind
this city and who everyone really is and who he can trust.
That said, the movie is a mind jarring journey until
the end. But I came out wondering why I bothered.

VIDEO |
Can't complain here. This is the best Village Roadshow disc I have seen. The
picture quality is exceptionally sharp with virtually no errors or artifacts
that I could
see. Wonderful.
Dark City is
framed at 2:35:1 and is16:9 enhanced.
This is a Single Sided,
Single Layer
disc.
|
AUDIO |
The audio in Dark city is comparable to the visual side in every way. Dark City
is encoded in Dolby Digital 5.1 and MPEG Multi channel 5.1, I listened to the Dolby Digital
5.1 mix. The surround channels receive quite a workout from the opening scenes. Music,
ambient sounds and sound effects are present throughout the print. The .1 channel is also
used for underscore the music and ambient sounds.
The dialog was clear all the way through.
|
EXTRAS |
Like all Village Roadshow discs there are limited extras on this disc. You get
the Theatrical Trailer framed at 2:35:1 with DD2.0 sound which is pretty boring and
doesn't sell the movie very well. You also get a crap featurette that goes for about 5
mins. The menus are also well animated which is a good change.
There are no subtitles on this disc.

FINAL THOUGHTS |
Strange movie, excellent transfer. If your not sure about the movie I would
recommend a rental first. |
