It was quite a surprise to many when
Clint Eastwood optioned the movie on one of the most popular and
romantic books ever.
Surprising it is too that this
movie is very good and well made, but at the end of the day this is
a "chick flick". Maybe Clint is getting soft in his old
age!
The story is told back in story
form after the death of Streep's character in a diary to her grown
children.
Eastwood plays Robert Kincaid a
National Geographic photographer who has come to Madison County to
take pictures of there world famous covered bridges for a story in
an upcoming issue.
There he meets Francesa Johnson (Meryl
Streep) a married house wife who's family have gone to the state
fair for a week and have left her on her lonesome. From there a love
affair ensues.
The Bridges Of Madison County is a
good movie if a little long. Great for women, not so good for most
men as it will bore the tears out of them.
