MOVIE |
Batman Forever is the third movie in
the Batman and also marks the downward spiral of the franchise. The
directing helm for the these last 2 movies was so disappointingly
taken over by Joel Schumacher who promptly turned these wonderfully
dark movies into a shockingly camp rendition of our superhero, heck
if I wanted to see that I would watch the 60's series on cable!
The movie basically has Batman
fighting the forces of evil yet again, this time he must pit his
wits against Harvey "Two Face" Dent (Tommy Lee Jones) and
Edward "The Riddler" Nygma (Jim Carrey). We are also
introduced to Batman's new found ally Dick Grayson, better known as
Robin. There is not really anything to say about this movie in fact
the only thing appealing about it is Nicole Kidman.

VIDEO |
This is a crap
transfer, plain and simple.
The transfer is
very soft, colors were under saturated and muted and look nothing
like the effect that the director was trying to achieve, in fact I
have no idea what the hell he was trying to achieve.
Film artifacts were
present throughout which was annoying and is unacceptable
considering this movie is only 5 years old.
On the positive
side there were no MPEG artifacts.
Batman Forever is framed at
1:85:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.
This is a single-sided, single
layer disc.
|
AUDIO |
The audio is really
the only shining star on this disc. Batman Forever is encoded in
Dolby Digital 5.1 and it is quite a good mix.
Surround channels
are used very effectively to create a sensational and immersive
sound field with excellent separation.
The .1 was used to
good effect and used quite frequently to underscore music and on
screen action.
Dialog was always
easy to hear.

FINAL THOUGHTS |
An awful entry into the
Batman franchise on a woeful disc. Avoid. |
