MOVIE |
Great flick and excellent send up of the James Bond Movies. In 1967 Austin
Powers is trying to defeat Dr Evil, just as he's about to get him, Dr. Evil escapes and
freezes himself, so Powers does the same.
Now it's 1997, Dr. Evil is back and so is Austin, only
this time he's out of touch, free love and drugs are a thing of the past and he has to
adapt, while trying to shag Ms. Kensington played beautifully by Liz Hurley,
she
makes the picture.
See doctor evil has a dastardly plan
to hold the world to ransom or otherwise he will destroy it by
drilling a nuclear warhead into the earth's core.
Will Austin get his man and shag Liz Hurley? You will have to watch.
Highly Recommended. |
VIDEO |
What's this a Roadshow title that is in widescreen? Well I should be more
specific, a matted widescreen format. The movie was originally released in an aspect ratio
of approx. 2:35:1, but the movie on the disc is approx, 1:85:1. This is probably more to
do with the fact it was filmed in Super 35. Now I know I sound picky but I would have
liked it in it's full aspect ratio of 2:35:1 like the region 1 release, but beggars can't
be choosy and besides, the picture quality is outstanding and looks crystal clear and
there is very little MPEG noise. Top job in that respect Roadshow.
Austin Powers is framed at 1:85:1
and is 16:9 enhanced.

AUDIO |
There are 2 audio formats in Austin Powers International Man of Mystery, MPEG 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 and while
both mixes sound very nice, I prefer the Dolby mix more. The movie makes quite good use of
the surrounds when needed and the .1 channel has a little blast as well.

EXTRAS |
Scene selections, trailer, music video, cast notes and a featurette and the menus
have their own music, quite good actually. |
FINAL THOUGHTS |
Top DVD Roadshow, great movie, excellent picture and sound and great extra's.
Looks like your finally getting your act together. Just a pity it doesn't have enough
chapters. I like about 30 chapters per 90 Mins of movie. |
