MOVIE |
The 3rd John Grisham DVD focuses on a what if scenario. What would you do if
your young daughter was raped and then hanged by two inbred, redneck, peckerwoods. Well if
your Samuel L. Jackson you would lay in wait in a courthouse with a semi automatic machine
gun and when they are on there way to trial shoot them deader than Elvis, Yee-Haw.
That's the
back story to this one. So now that ol' Sammy has shot these boys, he has to go on trial
for murder. But can a black man get a fair trial in the cousin mating south of the
U.S. where the KKK are rampant still? Well Matthew McConaughey a white attorney will attempt to
make sure he does. Now while the movie doesn't have any real twists and turns like some of
the other John Grisham thrillers, it does go right to the heart of race matters down south
and is very effective.
Good acting, good directing and a high quality DVD and yet another
great adaptation of a John Grisham Book. The disc itself is a flipper and has 23 chapters
a side. |
VIDEO |
Generally the movie is of high quality, there is the occasional MPEG artifact in
the movie and also the occasional speck in the transfer. The darkened areas hold up quite
well though.
A Time To Kill is
framed at 2:35:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.
This is a dual sided, single
layer disc or flipper disc. You must get off your lazy ass after chapter
23.

AUDIO |
The Usual from the WB Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. The movie itself makes extensive
use of the rear speakers mainly for ambient scenes and they also are used in the courtroom
scenes to echo people's voices, quite fun actually. The .1 channel is used sparingly and
mainly to add to the music score.
